Aquarium Drunkard Presents: Rebirth Brass Band - Rebirth of New Orleans
Grammy history was made last week. And though there may not have been the kind of fanfare reserved for the mainstream pop acts one typically associates with the awards, it was made all the same. New Orleans' own Rebirth Brass Band took home the Grammy for Best Regional Roots Music Album for their record Rebirth of New Orleans - marking the first time a brass band has ever received the award. Rebirth co-founder Keith Frazier summed up his thoughts on the win like this: "It's like New Orleans winning the Super Bowl all over again." Indeed.
Sunday night following the awards Aquarium Drunkard presented Rebirth at the Echoplex here in Los Angeles. To say the show felt like a party would be an understatement. I've been going to see the band since the mid-90s, both on their home turf at the Maple Leaf
