Aquarium Drunkard Presents: Children Of Nuggets: An Abridged Version

Several Christmas's ago I received the Rhino box set "Children Of Nuggets" from a friend. Subtitled "Original Artyfacts from the Second Psychedelic Era, 1976–1995" the four disc collection sets out to take up where the original Nuggets compilation - and its various and sundry knock-offs (see: Pebbles, etc) - left off. Following in the footsteps of original Nuggets compiler Lenny Kaye, the set scores points for delving into the lesser known nooks and crannies of power-pop, jangle-rock, psych and beyond. As an Angeleno, the inclusion of various Paisley Underground artists was especially welcome (Rain Parade, Dream Syndicate). Unfortunately the box set is, as of this writing, unavailable via Spotify so I picked some favorites from the compilation that were available elsewhere in order to provide a taste.  Justin Gage, aquariumdrunkard.com
